THE ART OF SOUL RETRIEVAL

Healing The Light Body - Session Three

I’ve adapted ancient techniques into processes that we can use to mend our past and heal our destiny.  The techniques interweave findings in anatomy, physiology, biology, and physics, and make these ancient healing practices eminently contemporary and scientific.  Each year, hundreds of students at our Healing the Light Body School learn how to employ these techniques to heal themselves and others.

JOURNEYING TO THE PAST AND THE FUTURE

In the Soul Retrieval journey you will learn how to retrieve your lost soul parts and recover the original clarity and brilliance of your soul.  You’ll navigate through the all-pervading matrix of light that organizes time into past, present, and future by journeying-a unique state of consciousness.  Journeying will allow you to revisit the past to heal events that occurred long ago and to find more desirable destinies for yourself and your loved ones.

THE THREE WORLDS

The Laika divide the collective unconscious of all humanity into three parts: the Lower, Middle, and Upper Worlds. These aren’t physical places, but rather archetypal and energetic domains.  The world we live in, where we work and raise our families, is the Middle World; the Upper World is the invisible domain of our destiny and our spirit; and the Lower World, where the record of all human history is held, is the realm of the soul.  Now, in the Middle World, we perceive time to be linear - tomorrow always follows today - so it’s difficult to imagine how we could travel into the past or future.  But by using the technique of journeying, we can visit the Upper and Lower Worlds-and it’s here that time loops and wormholes into the past and the future.

In the Soul Retrieval journey you learn to journey to the Lower World, where your childhood and your former lifetimes reside, to recover the lost parts of your soul.  These soul parts will take the form of beings: a frightened seven-year-old, an anguished mother, or even a cruel taskmaster.  You learn their stories, heal their wounds, and write new contracts that will free them from their burdens; then you’ll retrieve these healed soul parts and bring them back to the present.  You’ll discover your hidden gifts, which you may use in your everyday life in the Middle World, and you’ll retrieve a power animal who will put you back in touch with your natural instincts.

JOURNEYING

Journeying isn’t an exercise in the imagination-it’s very real.  This is difficult for those of us in the West to understand because we’re so driven by precepts and rules.  We distinguish between what obeys a set of predictable rules (such as the laws of physics), and what’s imaginal.  We know that everything is imaginal. Whatever we perceive is a projection of our inner world, and the world perfectly mirrors the condition of our soul.  What we think of as the world of our imagination, the seers of old consider as real and tangible as our very physical world.

To access the imaginal world, we need to enter into special states of consciousness that are very different from our ordinary daily consciousness. These are the states that have been cultivated by mystics, monk, saints, and yogis; it’s the “quiet mind” of the Laika and the Buddhas. This heightened awareness gives us access to our god-brain.

OUR ORIGINAL WOUND

Many of my clients have devoted years to their quest for healing, but they’ve done nothing more than wander aimlessly in the forest of children, jobs, marriages, failures, and successes. They spend years in psychotherapy trying to understand the time they were hurt last, instead of healing the first time that they were wounded. They often want to tell me about a recent incident that caused them pain-which I often explain is probably version number 27 of an original wounding that created the beliefs and behavior patterns that are causing them trouble now.  This is the wound we want to fix, not the 27 later versions.

In fact, there may only be a few major healing themes in our entire lives, all of which stem from our original wounds.

THE FOUR CHAMBERS OF THE LOWER WORLD

The Lower World is the primordial Eden, which legend says we’ve all lost.  It’s an earthly paradise that you can journey to anytime, to recover a part of your essential self that has been lost as a result of trauma. The Lower World is where your lost soul parts have remained in grace and innocence.  This realm is divided into four chambers, each containing a record of your soul’s history.

The first of these is the Chamber of Wounds, where you discover the original wounding that caused part of you soul to flee and to derail the course of your destiny.  Here you won’t be looking for the most recent manifestation of this injury, which may be a lost relationship or a personal crisis, but for its source.  It may be something that happened to you as a small child, or an incident that occurred while you were still in the womb.  It’s often a traumatic experience from a former lifetime. Everyone has an original wound that replays itself in many guises.  It becomes a recurring theme in life, oftentimes repeating a script of scarcity, loss, lack of love, betrayal, or abandonment within a family and across generations.

The second chamber is the Chamber of Contracts, where you’ll discover the soul promises that you’ve made.  Many of these will be terrible obligations that you agreed to before you were even born, and of which you have no conscious knowledge.  Most were entered into during the fear and stress of your original wounding, and often you’re unaware that they exist.  In this chamber, you can renegotiate the terms of an agreement that was badly worded and that has sentenced you to a life of repeated suffering.

The third is the Chamber of Grace.  Here you’ll find your healed soul part, which is ready to return to you with all its life force. Grace is the fuel that propels you forward in life, what brings joy and peace. It isn’t enough to journey to discover the pathology created by your wounds; you must also seek beauty, harmony, and the unique gifts of your soul.

Sometimes when I’m working with a client, I find that her life force has become like a small fire that’s nearly disappeared from what was once a roaring, raging blaze.  The flickering flame that’s left is barely enough to warm the soul. (I see this often I my clients who are suffering from chronic fatigue, anxiety, and depression.) By retrieving her missing soul part, my client can then return to her natural state of grace and aliveness, and rekindle her passion for life.

The fourth chamber of the Lower World is the Chamber of Treasures.  We tend to harvest those prizes that are closest to the surface, which suffice for an adequate and ordinary life. But we must dig deep in order to gather the most precious stones, silver, and gold buried far below.  Like diamonds, the greatest treasures can only be extracted with significant effort.  When I do a soul retrieval for a person who’s having difficulty manifesting who he wants to become, I’ll go into this chamber to help him retrieve an unexpressed creative or artistic gift. It’s here, deep in the unconscious, that he can find resources that will help him live more fully. (I’ll also retrieve a power animal that will help him recover his natural instinct.

In each of these chambers, you’ll read some of the books in the “library of your life” and uncover your deeply buried wounds, contracts, blessings, and gifts.

TRANSFORMING FATE INTO DESTINY

Fate is the predetermined and seemingly inevitable series of events that happen to us.  It seems unavoidable, and stalks us at every turn in our lives-for example; we leave one spouse, only to end up in the same relationship with another person.  Fate is also deadly; in fact, it has the same origin as the word fatality.

Destiny, on the other hand, is the purpose and calling of one’s life, and it can be discovered and realized.  Whereas the early Greeks believed that fate was spun from a certain thread, and that once it was woven into a cloth it was irreversible, they saw destiny as a force or agency that could intervene to reweave the cloth of fate.  I believe that destiny can also happen without divine intervention-but it requires that you become conscious of your past wounds and respond to the calling you were born with, and you can then steer the course of you own life.

Destiny allows you to transcend fate and to live free of negative emotional and genetic programming. By stepping into your destiny, you can free yourself from an inheritance of breast cancer or heart disease, or from an emotional history that causes you to continually remarry an updated version of an unsuitable spouse. Destiny allows you to navigate life instead of stumble through it.  When you step into your destiny, you can participate consciously in your own growth.

HEALING OUR DNA

Science believes that our genes can’t be altered, and we’re all bound to inherit certain traits and tendencies from previous generations.  So if a genetic predisposition runs in your family, your children’s fate has been sealed:  The breast cancer you inherited from you mother is just waiting to express itself, and the heart condition passed down from your father will spring up like a jack-in-the-box down the road. But the Laika understand that the evolution happens within generations, so you can actually uncoil the layers of your genetic code to re-inform your DNA and change your genetic fate.

Through journeying, we can track a destiny in which we heal and age differently, on in which we avoid manifesting the ailments of our ancestors or reliving our childhood traumas. Journeying can guide us to grow new bodies informed not only by whom we’ve been in the past, but also by who well be 10,000 years from now.
